A CDPAP ADVOCACY ORGANIZATION

After 20-years of Co-Founding and Nurturing a large Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP) in New York City, the program and its participants have taught me a great deal about the unique nature of this home care delivery system (Resume). To promote the expansion of the Consumer Directed philosophy, I created this web site, wrote the statement entitled CDPAP - Fundamentals, prepared the RESOURCES section, developed a bridge between CONSUMERS and EMPLOYMENT SERVICES, and compiled a list of Personal Assistants who have posted their availability. In addition to the above I have prepared A History of the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP) in New York City 1977 to 2001 to outline the development of the program and to highlight the contributions made by a variety of individuals, both Consumers and Non-Consumers.

The selected documents were included because they outline the program's history, provide information about program alternatives, offer a scientific assessment of the program, and direct the reader to related topics that may prove useful to a Consumer or a Program Organizer.

The next two services are designed to establish a BRIDGE beween CONSUMERS and EMPLOYMENT SERVICES. In each case the parties have information which is of little value until it is exchanged. Consumers have jobs they need to fill and Employment Services have potential employees they are trying to place. To enable Consumers to INDEPENDENTLY manage their homes, this service, which can efficiently permit the EXCHANGE OF INFORMATION, is being offered as a an impartial referral service.

CONSUMERS: To assist New York Metro Area Consumers with one of the core responsibilities, Consumer Directed Services has developed this service to enable you to quickly and inexpensively send your information to participating Employment Services and receive a list of available Personal Assistants who have registered with Consumer Directed Services in the past 10 days.

EMPLOYMENT SERVICES: This program will enable your service to receive New York Metro Area Consumer generated employment opportunities and information about the fee structures the Consumers are willing to work with.

THIS SITE IS FREE - BUT - I NEED YOUR HELP. Share your experience with other Consumers and contact the organizations that assist you. Ask them to spread the word about Consumer Directed Services. By building the flow of information that crosses the Consumer Directed Services Bridge, we will all benefit.
